Roman Fada is Akua Donkor's running mate
Kwabena Agyeman Appiah Kubi, the 2024 running mate for the Ghana Freedom Party, has shared details regarding the death of the party's presidential candidate, Akua Donkor.
Speaking in an interview on Okay FM on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, Roman Fada, as he is popularly known, stated that the late Akua Donkor began feeling unwell on Friday, October 25, 2024.
According to him, Akua Donkor was taken to the Nsawam Hospital for treatment but was later rushed to Ridge Hospital after her condition worsened.
“It started on Friday around 1:30 because I had a show on the radio at 2 PM but I spoke to her. The following Saturday, we spoke nicely on the phone for over an hour. The driver called me on Saturday evening informing me of her deteriorating health situation so they are taking her to the Nsawam Government Hospital where she was treated and discharged home,” he said.
He added, “I received a call on Monday dawn around 1AM telling me Akua Donkor’s condition had worsened so she has been rushed in an ambulance to the Ridge hospital. I communicated with them until they arrived at the Ridge Hospital.
“I visited the hospital in the morning to visit her where I proceeded to work after. I got a call around 10pm after returning back home from work informing me of her death. I quickly rushed to the Ridge Hospital where I met family members.”
As reported earlier on GhanaWeb, senior broadcast journalist, Ernest Frimpong Manso, popularly known as Adakabre, explained that the late Founder of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), Akua Donkor, was diagnosed with respiratory issues at the Nsawam Hospital.

The news of the passing of Akua Donkor flooded social media in the early hours of Tuesday morning, with many netizens sharing their sympathies with her family.
Akua Donkor was number 3 on the ballot paper for the 2024 elections and was actively preparing for the anticipated elections, with nearly 39 days left.
