A healthcare practitioner has raised concerns about men neglecting their health due to fears of sexual weakness.
In an interview with Okay FM, Dr. Owusu Ansah highlighted that some men with conditions like diabetes and hypertension avoid taking their prescribed medications, believing it will affect their sexual performance.
Dr. Ansah emphasised that this behavior is unacceptable and detrimental to their health.
“Some men believe that when they take the medicines they become sexually weak or inactive, so they won't take them again. They are choosing their sexual desires over their health. It’s unacceptable,” he said.
He explained that irregular medication intake can lead to drug resistance and ineffective treatment because the body would fail to adjust to the therapy.
“If you take a drug today and refuse to take it tomorrow, the system will not adjust to the therapy. And we have been seeing such cases day by day. It's troublesome,” he added.
Dr. Ansah's comments come in response to the increasing number of cases where patients neglect their health, leading to severe complications.
