NDC Communicator And 2 Others Remanded In Awutu Senya West For Removing Eugene Arhin’s Posters

Cassius Otoo Larbi, the Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Awutu Senya West constituency, along with two others, has been remanded in police custody by the Awutu Bereku District Court.

Presiding over the case, Her Ladyship Naomi Konto ordered the remand after the trio was accused of threatening an eyewitness who observed them removing posters of New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate Eugene Kofi Bentum Arhin.

The posters were allegedly taken down from a machine used in the District Road Improvement Project.

The suspects are scheduled to return to court on Monday, September 16, 2024, after a five-day remand.

The Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya West, Gizella Tetteh Agbotui, expressed dismay over the removal of her posters and labeled the legal action as “petty.”

In response, District Chief Executive for Awutu Senya West, Moses Arhinful Acquah, clarified that the case extends beyond the poster removal to include threats made against the eyewitness who intervened.

Mr Acquah also referred to a previous incident where Larbi and others reportedly disrupted Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia’s speech at the Awubia Festival by playing loud music, which had attracted national security attention.
