The Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced the annulment of the parliamentary primaries held in Amenfi Central in the Western Region.
The decision was made at a meeting on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, following a lawsuit filed at the High Court in Sekondi concerning the election.
In a statement signed by NDC General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the NDC noted that the plaintiffs' lawsuit sought to annul the results of the parliamentary primary and called for a rerun.
“The Party at its meeting has decided to annul the election and to rerun same. Accordingly, the Parliamentary primaries conducted on the 13th May 2023 in Amenfi Central has been annulled forthwith,” part of the statement read.
The NDC has also said that it has opened fresh nominations for the primaries in the Amenfi Central Constituency.
According to the party's timetable, nominations will open on Friday, September 6, with the filing of nominations beginning on Saturday, September 7.
Vetting of candidates will take place on the same day, with the election scheduled for Sunday, September 8.
