'This Is How Low We've Sunk' - Mahama Reacts To Abandonment Of Patient At Gomoa Ojobi

Former president, John Dramani Mahama

Former President John Dramani Mahama has expressed his dismay over the incident where a woman was reportedly left to die by a government hospital in Winneba due to an administrative issue.

The woman, who had been in an accident, was reportedly left in a bush because her family couldn't be located, and she died after three days.

The case caused widespread indignation among Ghanaians and across various social media platforms.

Taking to his X handle on June 15, 2024, Mahama voiced his concerns, stating, "This is how low we've sunk. Cry for our beloved country, which is bleeding terribly. Throwing a sick patient with casts on both legs into the bush? How did we get here? Elections have consequences!"

Meanwhile, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, MP for North Tongu, has called for the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital's board and the Ministry of Health to be summoned to Parliament to explain the situation.

The Majority Leader has sought a full report from the hospital, while the Ghana Health Service has begun an investigation.

The first report of the abandoned woman came from Joy FM on June 12, noting she was found with casts on both legs and a wheelchair in a bush at Gomoa Ojobi.

Eyewitnesses claim she was abandoned by an ambulance from the Winneba hospital.
