Over 150 Houses In Gomoa Mampong Flooded After Contractor Blocked Main Bridge

Over 150 houses have been submerged in Gomoa Mampong after a contractor working on the Kasoa-Cape Coast Highway blocked the main bridge that serves River Ayensu in the Gomoa East District.

River Ayensu is one of the biggest rivers in the Central Region, originating from the Eastern Region and crossing the Kasoa-Cape Coast Highway at Gomoa Okyereko before flowing to the sea.

The contractor, who is working on the road, blocked the main bridge with the aim of constructing a modern bridge that can accommodate the volume of water.

In an interview with Adom News, some residents said the river unexpectedly flooded the community around 2:30 pm today.

Currently, the majority of houses have been flooded, and the main road is at risk.

Meanwhile, Gomoa East District NADMO Director Robert Hackman revealed that Gomoa Mampong, Gomoa Okyereko, and five other communities are in danger and called on higher authorities to come to their aid.
