NPP National Chairman Stephen Ayesu Ntim
The National Chairman for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Stephen Ayesu Ntim, says the party cannot go into the crucial December 7 polls with the current issue among its rank and file.
“The [NPP] party cannot go into 2024 general elections with current attitude,” said the displeased party chair in an interview with Angel TV, on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, shortly after the NPP’s candidate, Kwabena Boateng, was declared winner in the hotly contested by-election.
The legal practitioner is said to have won with about 56% of the votes cast.
Ing. Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, the independent parliamentary candidate, secured about 43.3% of the votes.
The other candidates in the by-election — Esther Osei of the CPP, Beatrice Boakye of the LPG, and independents Gabriel Agyemang Joseph and Attakorah Joseph— collectively account for less than 1% of the votes.
Despite winning the NPP candidate securing the needed victory for the party, his National Chairman is not pleased at all with his members' attitude.
“I am not pleased with the results as the chairman of the party,” Mr Ntim expressed while speaking to Kofi Adomah Nwanwani.
He said the party would soon embark on a mission to bring back home all aggrieved members in order to secure a historic third-term victory for the NPP.
“We need everyone back on board. I will personally take the lead to reach out to Hon. Aduomi and bring him back on board,” he added.
