The Inspector-General of Police has called upon Ghanaians to exhibit a strong sense of patriotism, maturity, and compassion for humanity during the upcoming December 2024 general elections.

Dr George Akuffo Dampare assured that the security agencies are fully prepared to oversee the elections, emphasising that the active participation of citizens and all stakeholders is crucial for ensuring a seamless electoral process.

Speaking at an election readiness event organised by the Trades Union Congress in Accra, under the theme "The role of workers and social partners in securing peaceful elections for national development," the IGP highlighted that with collective effort, the election could become a positive civic experience.

He stated, "The security agencies are poised for the elections, committed to maintaining peace, securing the nation, and upholding law and order. As citizens, our responsibility is to fulfil our duties, while all stakeholders must also fulfil theirs."

Dr Dampare outlined three key principles—maturity, patriotism, and compassion for humanity—as essential for a successful electoral process.

He emphasised the importance of prioritizing Ghana's interests above all else and fostering a spirit of unity and cooperation.

He remarked, "By adhering to these principles, we can ensure that our role in the electoral process becomes a straightforward and enjoyable civic duty."

Dr Dampare also highlighted the operational readiness of the National Election Command Centre at Police headquarters, which has been actively managing election-related affairs and collaborating with the national election security task force to facilitate smooth elections nationwide.
