The Assembly Member of Abrokyire Krobo Electoral Area, has inaugurated and handed over a borehole project to the people of the Akokonima community in the Wassa Amenfi East District.
Mr Christopher Assiem responded to the appeals made by the chief and people of the Akokonima community to provide them with the borehole.
Mr Assiem told NewsAfricaGh's Antwi Dave Listowel that, the Akokonima River was unsafe to drink.
"The only river as a source of water for the community has been heavily polluted with chemicals used by farmers and illegal miners", he bemoaned.
He stressed to have been investing in the provision of potable water to help resolve the frequent water crisis in the Electoral Area.
Mr Assiem emphasized that, he has signed a social contract with the people to develop the area and would work hard in order not to disappoint them.
He appealed to the residents to ensure proper management, usage and maintenance of the borehole.
Mr Christopher Assiem pledged to lobby for more projects to bridge the development gap in the area.
The residents of the Akokonima community also expressed gratitude to the benefactor and the collaborators for the provision of the borehole, stressing, however, the need for places of convenience and developmental projects for the community.
