The Wa District Court has remanded into police custody the seven suspects arrested in connection with the gruesome murder of Eric Johnson, CEO of Royal Cosy Hills Hotel, popularly called Jirapa Dubai.
According to the court presided over by Mr Maxwell MaxibrainTitriku, the suspects are to re-appear in court in two weeks while investigation continues.
The court also added that six of the accused persons will be kept in the custody of the Wa Police while the prime suspect, Elyasah Mahama will be at the Wa Central Prison.
Available information indicates that four of the suspects - Dookuuri Fausta, Braimah Kasim, Beyuo Felix and Michael Klugey - all workers at the hotel, were nabbed on Sunday, February 11, 2024.
The other two suspects, identified as Favour Nuobe and Charles Tuoze, also staff of the Royal Cosy Hills Hotel, were arrested on Monday, February 12, 2024.
However, the prime suspect, Mr. Mahama was allegedly picked up at a hideout in Takoradi and airlifted to Wa on a commercial flight for interrogation.
Mr. Mahama who was the HR officer for the facility was said to have been sacked on Thursday, February 8, 2024, by Mr. Eric Johnson; three days before his murder.
The renowned businessman was found dead in a pool of his blood at his private residence on Sunday, February 11.
It has been alleged that Mr Johnson's attacker or attackers used a ladder to climb over his wall before using a master card to gain access to his room.
The deceased is believed to have finished taking his bath before the attack. He was found on the floor with his towel around him and bearing deep wounds on his body suspected to have been inflicted by his killer or killers.
His car was driven out of the compound but was later found abandoned in town.
