NPP Sets Up Reconciliation Committees After Parliamentary Primaries

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has taken a step towards fostering unity and reconciliation within its ranks by establishing regional reconciliation committees.

This move comes after the party held its parliamentary primaries to select candidates for the 2024 general election last weekend.

Following the party's reorganisation efforts initiated in 2022, spanning polling stations, constituencies, regions, and national levels, the internal elections concluded with the selection of parliamentary candidates on January 27, 2024.

Recognising the potential for issues to arise during these internal processes that may impact party cohesion, the leadership, in consultation with the respective Regional Executive Committees, formed the regional reconciliation committees.

A statement released by the General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Kodua Frimpong, outlined the committees' responsibilities, emphasizing their role in fostering unity and reconciliation in every constituency within their respective regions.

The committees are mandated to address any disagreements arising from various party activities, including polling station elections, constituency elections, regional elections, national elections, presidential elections, and parliamentary elections.

Expressing gratitude to those who volunteered to serve on the committees, the statement acknowledged their vital contribution to the unity and cohesion of the party.

“We continue to register our gratitude to these esteemed individuals for their willingness to serve in this capacity and contribute to the unity and cohesion of our party,” the statement said.
