Ophelia Mensah Hayford Retained As Parliamentary Candidate For Mfantseman NPP


The Member of Parliament for Mfantseman Constituency, Hon. Ophelia Mensah Hayford has retained as the Parliamentary Candidate (PC) after she filed her nomination forms to recontest the parliamentary primaries with a call on all party loyalists to support her in the upcoming general elections to retain the seat for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Member of Parliament (MP) for Mfantseman was declared winner of the primaries by Electoral Commission (EC) at Saltpond.

Mr Owusu Ansah, the Returning Officer declared Hon. Ophelia Mensah Hayford winner over two other aspirants as she obtained 825 votes, James Korsah-Brown polled 232 voted and Gabriel Amuah also had 60 votes.

A total of 1158 delegates were expected to cast their ballots however, 1,120 cast their votes of which 3 were rejected.


Ophelia Mensah Hayford congratulates the other two aspirants for the bold decision taken in contesting the parliamentary primaries as she called on them to come on board towards 2024 general elections. She also expressed her heartfelt appreciation to the delegates for the honour.

According to her, she stands the better chance to retain the seat for the NPP coming 2024 elections.

However, she admitted that the core mandate of an MP is to formulate laws but can also be an agent for development within the constituency.
