The Ekumfi National Democratic Congress (NDC) Bureau has slammed and called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to render an apology over a comment claiming to have denied the constituency's development over their failure to vote for the NPP's 2020 Parliamentary Candidate who doubles as then Deputy Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Hon. Francis Kingsley Ato Cudjoe.
In a statement signed by the Constituency Communication Officer, and Secretary for NDC, Mr Kow Kakra Jagadu and Mr Edward Fayah Acquah respectively on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 describes the President's statement to be "very offensive, reckless and unfortunate".
"It is common knowledge that the President has a vindictive nature, but to vent the same on a whole constituency is far-fetched and cannot pass without condemnation. The people of Ekumfi condemn such an unfortunate and reckless statement from the President of the land."

Press Release
17th January, 2024
EKUMFI NDC COMMUNICATION BUREAU
RE: I DENY EKUMFI DEVELOPMENT BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T VOTE FOR NPP CANDIDATE HON FRANCIS KINGSLEY ATO CUDJOE IN ELECTION 2020
The good people of Ekumfi Constituency has taken notice of a video which was aired on major social media platforms and which has since gone viral, when a section of individuals, alleged to be coming from Ekumfi, visited the presidency.
The President, in many publications and the videos that have since gone viral in an attempt to respond to why he has refused to honor a promise he made to honor the name of Former President John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills. The President in his response emphatically stated that, cardinal among his refusal to accede to request to honor his promise to the good people of Ekumfi is anchored on the fact that the people of Ekumfi declined his appeal to vote for the 2020 NPP Parliamentary Candidate who until that election was the deputy minister of state in charge of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Hon. Francis Kingsley Ato Cudjoe. This statement is found to be very offensive and unfortunate coming from a President.
It is common knowledge that the President has a vindictive nature, but to vent the same on a whole constituency is far-fetched and cannot pass without condemnation. The people of Ekumfi condemn such an unfortunate and reckless statement from the President of the land. Does this mean the President and his candidate did not get a vote from the people of Ekumfi? What is the President's understanding of democracy?
In any case, what did the president do for the people of Ekumfi when, for the first time under this 4th Republic, when they voted for the NPP candidate Hon. Francis Kingsley Ato-Cudjoe? No significant development has taken place as a result of voting for the NPP candidate in the constituency; therefore, the president can't hide his incompetence behind the results of the 2020 election. Are we to say that the president's promise to honor Prof Mills was also a rhetorical campaign to woo unsuspecting voters into voting for the NPP and their candidates?
The people of Ekumfi have taken note of this reckless hate statement from the president. We can as well confirm the president's statement with action since there aren't any ongoing projects in the constituency. Road projects like the Mankessim-Suprudo-Edumafa-Abaka to Akwakrom road project have been halted for years now. Immuna Road, which was given to a contractor, has been canceled. Agenda 111 Ekumfi was conspicuously missing after Nananom made frantic efforts at the presidency to ensure Ekumfi, for the first time, would get a District hospital. There has not been one significant GoG project in Ekumfi Constituency since Nana Addo and Dr. Bawumia took office in 2017.
The people of Ekumfi have taken notice and will advise themselves accordingly. It is evidently clear that most of the developmental projects across the constituency were done by the NDC government. Given this revelation, the people of Ekumfi can only trust in the NDC and their Members of Parliament to deliver Ekumfi-tailored development.
The statement by the President is overly insulting to the good people of Ekumfi. To suggest that votes determines development gains in any area of Ghana is to affirm the perception that the Nana Addo and Bawumia NPP led administration is visionless and possesses a very narrow understanding about development. As political actors in the Ekumfi Constituency, the National Democratic Congress (NDC)- Ekumfi Constituency takes very strong view of the reckless statement chan out by the President and rather finds it strange that the NPP - Ekumfi Constituency has not taken steps to dissociate itself from such misguided statement which presupposes that they are in bed with their parent elephant party which has purposely for 3 good years according to the president has denied Ekumfi their share of the national Cake. We call on all well-meaning people of Ekumfi to have confidence in the next John Mahama and Dr. Ekow Kwainoe administration to provide the needed opportunities best for Ekumfi.
