The Mfantseman Constituency Secretariat of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed a greater shock as they called on the Security Agencies over the barbaric act involving the pulling down of a billboard hosting the photograph of Presidential Candidate, John Dramani Mahama and Dr Ebenezer Prince Arhin, the Parliamentary Candidate at Mankessim roundabout.
At a press conference held at the constituency's party office at Saltpond, the secretary, Mr Eric Stanley Acquah (KK) blamed the sitting Member of Parliament (MP), Hon. Ophelia Mensah Hayford for her 'failed and disgruntled' action.
"I write with the utmost surprise and disdain to inform the security services, the general public and all media houses in Mfantseman about the barbaric act perpetuated by the failed and disgruntled Member of Parliament for Mfantseman, Mad. Ophelia Mensah for pulling down a mounted banner of our Visionary H.E John Dramani Mahama and 'Edwumawura' Dr Ebenezer Prince Arhin at Mankessim Roundabout", part of the statement stressed.
"The NDC is calling on the security agencies for one thing; peace, not for anything but because our leaders H.E. John Mahama and Dr Ebenezer Prince Arhin do not subscribe to sheer impunity and unlawful act. We serve a clear notice and add that if the banner is not remounted, we will declare Mfantseman no Banner Constituency going into 2024 elections and nothing will assuage us to do otherwise."
They emphasized that, "NDC, Mfantseman, therefore call for peace whilst we count on the security agencies and especially the Municipal Assembly to approach this matter with the most professional and peaceful manner so as to have our banner remounted to avoid any later confusion and retaliation."
NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS
MFANTSEMAN CONSTITUENCY SECRETARIAT
A PRESS CONFERENCE BY NDC ON A BARBARIC ACT BY MFANTSEMAN FAILED MP, MAD OPHELIA MENSAH AND HER NPP SURROGATES FOR PULLING DOWN A MOUNTED BANNER OF OUR PRESIDENTIAL (H.E JOHN DRAMANI MAHAMA) AND PARLIAMENTARY CANDIDATE (DR. EDENEZER PRINCE ARHIN) AT MANKESSIM ROUNDABOUT
Good afternoon, our friends from the media. Thank you for making time out of your busy schedule and to respond to our invitation within this short moment all for the love of Mfantseman and especially the NDC Party.
Colleagues from the media, I write with the utmost surprise and disdain to inform the security services, the general public and all media houses in Mfantseman about the barbaric act perpetuated by the failed and disgruntled Member of Parliament for Mfantseman, Mad. Ophelia Mensah for pulling down a mounted banner of our visionary H.E John Dramani Mahama and edwumawura Dr. Ebenezer Prince Arhin at Mankessim Roundabout.
Members of the media, it is be noted that barely four days ago the Divisional Police Commander, ACP Denis Kwaku Fiakpui, the Municipal Director, Bureau of National Investigation (BNI) Mr. Bekoesd met with our NDC Constituency Chairman, Mr Fred Budu Hagan, Treasurer, Mr Evans Appiah and a Coopted Member, Mr Nicholas Edem Tulasie with NPP being represented by no less a person but their Constituency Chairman, Mr. Nathaniel (Nat) Owusu, at GYEDU Divisional Police Command, specifically Commander's Office on the mounted banner by NDC. After lengthy hours of discussions and negotiations two main decisions were taken;
(i) that since there are two giants metal bill pillars mounted around roundabout, Mankessim, the BNI was tasked to meet with the Paramount Chief of Mankessim Traditional Area, Osagyefo Amanfo Edu VI for the meeting minds (consensus) so that both NPP and NDC could have one each, the outcome of which was successful and peaceful after the BNI Director had met with the revered and peaceful Osagyefo Amanfo Edu VI of Mankessim Traditional Area. And same had been communicated to our Constituency Chairman, Mr Fred Budu Hagan by the Municipal BNI Director only yesterday.
(II] That the Assembly should meet with the two parties; NDC and NPP for a win-win approach among others.
Friends from the media, premising on the two major decisions, only yesterday the 22nd November, 2023 at exactly 2:51PM, the current Mfantseman Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Ike Lord Ennu placed a call on me, Eric Stanley Acquah K.K (Constituency Secretary, NDC Mfantseman) as regards permission letter NDC had served on the Assembly for the same purpose under discussion. The conclusion was that the Municipal Chief Executive (Hon Ike Lord Ennu) will also meet with both parties: NDC and NPP for a win-win approach and et cetera et cetera only for the mounted banner of H.E John Dramani Mahama and Dr Ebenezer Prince Arhin to be pulled down by the underperformed Member of Parliament for Mfantseman, Mad. Ophelia Mensah and her unlawful NPP surrogates this dawn. An act which was discussed and endorsed on the NPP Mfantseman platform dubbed OPERATION PULL THE BANNER DOWN.
Good people from the media, we, however, wish to avert the minds of the security agencies to this despicable act and reiterate the security threats same could portend on the good people of Mfantseman. Such a heinous act by the failed and disgruntled Member of Parliament for Mfantseman, Mad. Ophelia Mensah and her coterie is shameful, dishonourable, unpolitical and borne out of frustration and the humiliating electoral defeat that awaits her.
We in the NDC, is calling on the security agencies for one thing; peace, not for anything but because our leaders HE. John Mahama and Dr. Ebenezer Prince Arhin do not subscribe to sheer impunity and unlawful act. By this, we serve a clear notice and add that if the banner is not remounted we will declare Mfantseman no Banner Constituency going into 2024 elections and nothing will assuage us to do otherwise.
Members of the media, we wish to draw the attention of all the media houses and especially the general public that the now waning and underperforming NPP party believes in unlawful, barbaric and inhuman acts which must not be entertained in our body politic. This weak-minded act is sickening and must be condemned by all to the hilt.
Indeed, the NDC, Mfantseman, therefore calls for peace whilst we count on the security agencies and especially the Municipal Assembly to approach this matter with the most professional and peaceful manner so as to have our banner remounted to avoid any later confusion and retaliation.
Long live NDC!
Long live Mfantseman !!
Long live Ghana!!!
Thank you
...Signed...
